"Global interaction between Science and Business"
LOCAL CHAIRs / Mexico
Dr. Jaime Romano Micha is a Medical Doctor with a PhD in Clinical Neurophysiology. With over 30 years of practice in the clinical field of learning disabilities, he has founded three clinics in Mexico (www.cnpp.org.mx).
As a researcher at UCLA and at The Mexican Institute of Mental Health he has been involved in different areas of research such as visual memory, attention, aggressive behavior, sleep research, and decision making processes.
In the area of Technological development, in 1988, he created a brain mapping and computerized EEG system, an evoked potentials and sleep analysis system, which are being used in more than 120 laboratories around the globe. Dr. Romano has been a professor at The Anahuac University for over 20 years. He has been part of the board of different Societies such as: American Clinical Neurophysiology Society, Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, Mexican Society of Biological Psychiatry, former president of the Mexican Society of Clinical Neurophysiology, Mexican Chapter of the International league against epilepsy, among others. He is the founder of the Mexican Society of Bio and Neurofeedback (www.smbn.org.mx). Dr. Romano has published his research as an ongoing process through specific scientific articles and through his contribution to a number of specialized books.
Dr. Jaime Romano’s interest in the Neuromarketing field started in 2004 as he realized the correlation which existed between his clinical work and research and the emerging Neuromarketing field. Through adapting the hardware and software he created, he developed the first brain mapping tool in Mexico capable of analyzing the brains reaction during the decision influencing and making process.
Neuromarketing SA de CV was formed in 2005 as a Neuroscience Laboratory to better understand emotional, attention, comprehension, memory and learning processes during a commercial interaction. Dr. Romano formed a team of highly specialized cognitive neuroscientists, neurophysiologists, psycho physiologists along with market research professionals. Through a mix of bespoke research and consultancy work for innovative blue chip companies, Neuromarketing has matured into a Neuromarketing Consultancy capable of designing and implementing analytical tools to enable clients to understand and therefore perfect their ability to communicate with their target markets. The client list includes large multinational banks, blue chip FMCG corporations, advertising agencies, market research consultancies amongst others.
Neuromarketing’s work has been extensively presented through large forums in which Dr. Romano has been invited as a speaker such as HSM and TED.
In March 2011 Neuromarketing SA de CV was awarded the Platinum Prize by The European Seal of e-Excellence which rewards ICT and Digital Media companies with an excellent track record in innovation marketing. (http://www.seal-of-excellence.org/winners2011).
My interest in becoming the NMSBA ambassador in Mexico is to help evolve the Mexican Neuromarketing field from a fragmented cottage industry into a recognized and understood marketing science. This includes the areas of research, design and development of hardware and software, and above all customer understanding of the field and of the benefits of using neurological science to support the marketing process by enhancing their understanding of their customers.
