Neuromarketing in the United Kingdom
Understanding the workings of the brain is one of the last frontiers of modern science, and with a long history of conducting physical and clinical brain research within the academic arena in the UK, it is well placed as one of the leading countries in the field of neuroscience.
The research industry within the UK has already played an important part in the growth of Neuromarketing. Dr David Lewis is described as one of the founding fathers of Neuromarketing due to his use of TV adverts as stimulus in the early eighties to study stress and anxiety using a fairly primitive EEG machine. This paved the way for modern consumer neuroscience (neuromarketing), creating a new paradigm in the way we describe human behaviour and decision-making.
Neuromarketing represents an important and growing area for market research and advertising industry, but there’s still the need to build more bridges between science and business practices. As this knowledge increases so do the applications of neuromarketing to a variety of areas such as, advertising, packaging testing, concept testing, shopper behaviour, sensory testing as well as political and social issues. Now we also need to find the spaces to share these experiences as we believe this is a pillar for our success.
There’s still plenty of things we can do to make this field bigger and we cannot do it without you, so please if you have any ideas of how we can promote the field here in the UK, please do not hesitate to contact us.
We are preparing some initiatives which will be available soon. Watch the space!
